  Some jokes for you! 

  I have some great jokes I heard from my new friends in Iceland, Freyja and Eir. Names often have a meaning to them and Freyja and Eir told me what their names meant (I think this is kinda cool?!)

  Freyja – Her name comes from the Ancient Norse god of love and fertility, responsible for healthy crops, peace, and prosperity.

  Eir – Her name relates to the goddess of healing among the ancient Norse gods, considered the best doctor.

  Here are Freyja and Eir’s NUMBER jokes:

  What months have 28 days?

  ANSWER:

  Yes all of them… of course!

  Tongue Twisters 

  Try out these tongue twisters – you have to say them really fast and keep repeating them, see if your tongue gets tied…mine did!

  We surely should see the sun shine soon.

  Three grey geese in the green grass grazing.
  Grey was the geese and the grass was green.

  Betty better butter Brett’s brown bread.

  Scuba Diving was Awesome! 

  The water was amazing, it was crystal clear! We explored some underwater caves and checked out Silfra Lagoon, it is around 120m in diameter and about 5 metres deep. It was so clear that we can see through to the other end. I absolutely loved the dive….very cold but worth it! By the way I didn”t find any treasure down there and we didn’t see many fish either!

  Scuba Dive day 

  Getday, it’s minus 3 degrees here in Iceland. How ya been doing, looking forward to the School Holidays I bet? Have ya checked out the competition page? I’ve decided to have my very own competition each month for the rest of the year, yep the rest of the year. So that means I have heaps of prizes to give away.   My mate Scruttin finally arrived yesterday, he is going to be my dive buddy for my scuba dive at Silfra crack in Thingvellir Lake (you always need a dive buddy when you are scuba diving!!). We’re just about to head off, I’ll tell you all about it in the next couple of days.

  Wow, what a birthday present! 

  I have been meaning to let you know about my birthday celebrations but it has taken me the whole week to recover!

  You will never guess what the Secret Forest folk gave me as a birthday present, can you believe a Bungy jump and a jungle canopy surfing tour! I have to admit I was alittle nervous, I really don’t like heights that much. Dan joined me on the  jungle canopy surfing tour, I must say hanging from a flying fox above the rainforest was a rather splendid feeling!

  I was alittle concerned about the Bungy swing so Posy suggested I tried out the Minjn swing and she was very generous to accompany me. It was such an adrenaline rush, I think I may have to do something just as exciting for my next birthday…maybe hot air ballooning!

  Some interesting facts about The New Forest in England……

  • The New Forest pony is now a recognised breed of pony, but it comes originally from Welsh ponies who breed with other ponies such as Highland, Exmoor and Dartmoor. Did you know ponies have right of way over vehicles on New Forest roads?

  

  • The New Forest became Sherwood Forest in the 1991 film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves starring Kevin Costner.

  • The New Forest is the only place in Britain where the wild gladiolus grows.

  • Alice Hargreaves, was the inspiration for Alice in Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (1865), she is buried at Lyndhurst Church of St Michael and All Angels, in The New Forest.

  • Heathland found in the New Forest is rarer worldwide than rainforest.

  • The New Forest National Park was created in March 2005 to conserve and enhance the natural beauty and to educate people of the importance of its special qualities.

  I have made it to the New Forest! 

  Wow how gorgeous is The New Forest! So very different from the Secret Forest as there are no tropical plants but huge Oak and Beech trees. I was surprised to learn a large majority of the forest is covered in Heathland which has the most beautiful sprays of heather growing for miles. There were also no paddy melons or whip birds in site but I saw a lot of ponies!

  I was also very surprised to see donkeys and pigs walking down the road as well! The animals seem to ‘rule the roost’ in The New Forest and cars are warned to drive very slowly as the animals are free to roam wherever they like. Oh I am loving my holiday so far and can’t wait to explore more of this amazing forest!
