I saw a group of Harbour porpoises on the way there and on the way  back I saw a Minke Whale (wish I had my camera!). All in all it was a pretty awesome day!

I love playing chess with my friends so when I heard there was a really old chess set at the Museum in Scotland I had to take a look. They say the chess pieces probably came from Norway, about AD 1150-1200.

The chess pieces are made of walrus ivory and whales’ teeth in the forms of seated kings and queens, mitred bishops, knights on their mounts, standing warders and pawns in the shape of obelisks.They were found  in Scotland around 1831, the pieces are still in excellent condition and they don’t seem to have been used much at all.

Of the 93 pieces, 11 pieces are in Edinburgh at the National Museum of Scotland, and 82 are in the British Museum. They looked amazing!

Just to let you know I am heading up to the Scottish Highlands tomorrow, I am going on a really long trek and I won’t have access to the internet for a while! So I will have to chat to you in a few weeks time and tell you all my stories.

Erica’s Ocean In a Bottle:

Have you always wanted to go to the beach but your not allowed well these days are about to change….

You will need a plastic bottle, blue dye, glitter, sea shells mini, water, sand and plastic creatures.

1. Fill bottle with water half-way and add some sand.

2. Put the lid on and shake then take lid off and add some blue dye.

3. Add some blue, aqua, green or white glitter in as well as adding some plastic gems and plastic sea creatures such as an turtle or fish than add some seashells and put on the lid shake and now you have made and ocean in a bottle!

Why not make your own potions and create spells with them and whisper into the thin air at midnight!!!
